This depends on the size of the nitrocellulose dissolved, the amount of solvent added, the type and mixing ratio, the temperature, and the dissolution process. The rheological behavior of nitrocellulose solution belongs to non-Newtonian fluid, and the ratio of shear rate to viscosity is not linear. The better the compatibility between nitrocellulose and solvent, the greater the decreasing trend of solution viscosity with the increase of shear rate. The viscosity of nitrocellulose solution has an exponential relationship with the concentration, such as when the concentration of a typical product rises from 10% to 12%, its viscosity value has doubled, but the viscosity of the solution will decrease with the increase of temperature, when the temperature rises from 20°C to 30°C, its viscosity value is often reduced by about half.

True solvent: refers to the solvent that can dissolve nitrocellulose itself, such as ketones: acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, etc.; Esters: ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, etc.; Glycol ethers: methyl glycol ether, propyl glycol ether, etc.
Co-solvent: with the true solvent can dissolve the nitrocellulose solvent. Such as alcohols: methanol, ethanol, etc.
Diluent: can not dissolve the nitrocellulose itself, but together with the true solvent can be used as an incremental agent and diluent. Diluent includes aliphatic and aromatic carbohydrates, such as: benzene, toluene, xylene and so on.
